7 Things Your Cat Wants You To Know
Unquestionably, cats are among the most adored pets in the country. Thanks to their endearing charms and astute personalities, they have everything going for them. But what if your cat wanted to share something significant with you? Here are seven things your cat will tell you, in his own words, that we think you should know!
1. I enjoy being outside, but if you keep me inside, I'll live longer.
I felt at home in the big outdoors, which was a haven of joy for me to hunt and explore. However, it is not the best place for me to reside. Did you know that when I live outside, my lifespan is limited to between two and five years? That was far too short! If you keep me indoors in the comfort and nurturing of your home, I can live to be 17 years old! I will continue to give you loving hugs and kisses for about 15 more years.
2. I just meow for you; I don't meow for other cats.
With the exception of the rare hissing episodes we have when we feel threatened, we don't need to meow at other cats. We meow exclusively at you people, cats! We meow to let our mothers know when we need food or a little additional comfort when we are kittens. We don't need to meow as adults other than to communicate with you and let you know when we're hungry, want to say hello, or if anything is wrong. Additionally, we will converse with you more the more you chat with us.
3. Please give me more than dry cat food.
I don't just look like a tiger; I am a tiger. I should also eat like one! I need a diet high in meat because I am a true carnivore. It goes without saying that I prefer to eat dry snacks throughout the day, but this is not the healthiest diet for me. Compared to my canine friends who like wet food, I am more prone to obesity and diabetes.
4. Because I become bored, I need you to spend some interesting time with me occasionally.
When you go to work, I'm sad! I like to be among people. If I don't have a sister or sibling to play with, I need companionship much more. When you arrive home, kindly don't just play on your phones or watch TV. Spend time with me and pique my interest! Play with some cat toys with me so that I may get some exercise and we can develop a human-cat friendship. I'll not only appreciate it but I'll be exhausted enough to be ready for bed.
5. You can lower your stress levels and chances of having a heart attack or stroke by sitting with me.
Did you know that having me lowers your risk of stroke by one-third? That is accurate! Your stress and anxiety could be reduced by my sweet little furry spirit, and you might feel better as a result of the vibrations I make when I purr.
6. Please don't be offended by my scratching; I have to do it!
It's not my intention to damage your furniture when you witness me scratching it. I just need a place where I can stretch out and use my claws! My outer claw layers must also be removed in part since they are fragile and degenerating. I occasionally leave claw marks and a smell on items to establish my territory. I apologize if I insulted you; it was just instinct. Investing in some scratching posts or trees is a great way to address this. I can stretch and scratch knowing there is always a safe place for me to do so.
7. I might not show up just because you call my name.
No matter how many times you said the name of my cat, I would still be staring out the window. I'm telling you, I'm aware of my name. From all the times you've told me, I've learned it. I'm a cat, so I'm not required to follow orders like the dog next door. You are higher up the food chain, therefore if you call a dog, he will come running. To me, none of this is important. I recall everything, even the last time you made me take that awful medicine and the visit to the veterinarian. I love you very much, but I just want to do things my way.
Hopefully, these cat care suggestions will help you become closer to your little feline while also helping your kitten live the healthiest life possible so they can spend more time being a companion for you.
